Description: This session invites faculty to learn directly from members of the Upper School Student Committee on AI (SCAI). These student leaders have been researching the evolving role of artificial intelligence in education and developing strategies to support both teachers and peers in using AI tools responsibly, creatively, and effectively. Faculty will hear student perspectives on:
- How they’re using AI in authentic, discipline-specific ways to augment rather than offload cognitive effort, helping students extend their thinking, explore new perspectives, and deepen understanding through guided reflection and analysis.
- What students wish teachers understood about their learning experienceI: what helps, what hinders, and what inspires them.
- Research findings from the SCAI’s subcommittees on responsible use, ethics, and effective classroom integration that uses AI to augment rather than offload cognitive effort, helping students extend their thinking, explore new perspectives, and deepen understanding through guided reflection and analysis.
Through dialogue and breakout discussions, teachers and students will co-design next steps for AI integration that honor both student voice and academic integrity. Participants will leave with actionable insights into how AI can support deeper learning and how engaging students as thought partners can enrich our shared “Human-First AI” approach across the school.
